Audit - an intensive examination with the highest level of assurance, and generally preferred by investors, creditors, and other users of financial statements.
Review - an analytical procedure conducted with limited assurance, performed in accordance with AICPA professional standards, will satisfy many companies' financial reporting requirements at a much lower cost than a full audit.
Compilation - a report on the financial statements that states a compilation was performed in accordance with AICPA professional standards, is based upon information provided by clients and is used primarily for internal use.
